Understanding Custom PAT Test Labels

Self-adhesive labels are applied to electrical equipment after portable appliance testing, recording the inspection result, test date, and next scheduled test. Manufactured on polypropylene rather than paper, our PAT test labels are tear-resistant and remain secure on equipment surfaces throughout the test period.

Standard PAT Test Label Formats

Our standard range covers passed, failed, a passed and failed bundle, 4th edition passed, fuse rating, visual inspection, and plain writeable formats. All are 50x25mm on gloss polypropylene with permanent adhesive in rolls of 1000. The bundle includes 1000 passed labels and 20 free failed labels, covering the typical ratio needed across most testing scenarios.

Custom Printed PAT Test Labels

For electricians and PAT testing companies requiring branded labels, our custom printed option is available in 50x25mm green polypropylene with permanent adhesive. Custom labels can include company name, inspection result fields, test and retest dates, appliance identification numbers, and inspector details, helping create consistent documentation across multiple properties or clients.

4th Edition PAT Test Labels

Our 4th edition passed labels reflect the current IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. If your organisation follows 4th edition testing guidelines, these are the appropriate format to use alongside your testing records.

Why Choose Label Metrics?

We manufacture and supply PAT test labels directly from our facility in Hull, East Yorkshire. For custom printed requirements, call us on 01482 485005 to discuss sizes, quantities, and artwork. Browse our tamper evident labels for other specialist polypropylene label options.

Custom PAT Test Labels FAQ

What is the difference between standard and custom PAT test labels?

Standard PAT test labels are pre-printed with passed, failed, or fuse rating text and are ready to use straight away. Custom PAT test labels are printed with your company branding, specific inspection fields, or bespoke layouts to order.

What information is included on PAT labels?

PAT labels typically include the test result, inspection date, next test date and sometimes the inspector or company responsible for the testing.

Are PAT test labels legally required?

PAT testing itself is not a legal requirement, but employers have a legal duty to ensure electrical equipment is safe under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. PAT test labels provide a clear, visible record that an appliance has been inspected, supporting compliance documentation.

Can PAT test labels include company branding?

Yes. Custom PAT test labels can include company names, logos, inspector details and other information required for electrical safety inspections.

What appliances are PAT test labels used on?

PAT labels are applied to office appliances such as kettles, monitors, and printers, IT equipment including computers and chargers, power tools, extension leads, and portable electrical devices used in workplaces and commercial environments.
